History

Our famous brand names Gossen and Metrawatt looks back on a more than 100 years old history of success:

In the year 1933, the Guggenheimer AG (founded 1906 in Nürnberg), was renamed to Metrawatt AG. The Paul Gossen & Co. K.-G. was founded in the year 1919 in Baiersdorf (north of Nürnberg). In 1993, both companies of the measurement systems industry merged together and became Gossen-Metrawatt GmbH. The company Camille Bauer in Switzerland was part of this company group.

As a result of the Gossen-Metrawatt GmbH aquisition by Dr. Hans-Peter Optiz in the year 2005, the company was re-branded and in the year 2008 we were split-of and new founded under GMC-I Service GmbH. Today, we are part of the worldwide GMC Instruments group. The origin of our name is based on the first letters of the brands Gossen, Metrawatt and Camille Bauer.

In Nürnberg, products of the brand „Gossen Metrawatt“ are developed and sold by Gossen Metrawatt GmbH (former GMC-I Messtechnik GmbH) and manufactured by MTP Messtechnik Produktions GmbH. GMC-I Service GmbH is taken care about repairing and calibration as well as all after sales services.

With these three companies, we are making our values about the seal of quality „Made in Germany“ become true.

Part of the group are our own verification laboratory as well as DakkS-accredited calibration laboratories of Gossen Metrawatt GmbH (former GMC-I Messtechnik GmbH), GMC-I Service GmbH and GOSSEN Foto- und Lichtmesstechnik GmbH.
